Dear Friends,
I am very happy to share with you some of the upcoming changes at Art Produce! Art Produce is reorganizing, retooling and reconfiguring the ways it will continue to be involved in community building and remain a space for cultural exchange and development. While Art Produce will continue in much the same ways it has for 25 years, I am stepping down as the executive director and stepping back into my studio. We (myself and the board of directors) have elected to dissolve the nonprofit entity. What has emerged, I think, is the best possible outcome! We are able to continue our mission to build community and foster civic engagement through arts, education and public culture at the Art Produce building through the work of our new onsite partners, The Teaching & Learning Collaborative (read more about TLC below). We will also continue to have artists' studios onsite and a (somewhat transformed) storefront exhibition space always visible to the public. It has been and continues to be super fun, always interesting and a sometimes challenging journey that has only been possible through the participation and partnerships with the community and you! I am tremendously grateful for the enormous privilege of guiding the process and collaboration that continues to be Art Produce. Peace, Lynn Susholtz “The patterns of our lives come from those things that do not drift apart but move together for a little while, like dancers.” Excerpt From “The Faraway Nearby” By Rebecca Solnit |

Dear Friends and Supporters of Art Produce,
We are delighted and honored to share space in the Art Produce building and promote the mission of community, art, education and joy. The Teaching and Learning Collaborative is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to provide outstanding quality educational opportunities to San Diego’s underserved youth and their families. We operationalize our mission by supporting excellent teachers and partnering with researchers and community organizations. We take a strengths-based, YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) approach to our work by celebrating the assets and brilliance of San Diego’s diverse and underrepresented refugee, low income, multilingual, military-connected, and housing-insecure students. We integrate academic language and social-emotional learning into our programs so students are learning valuable life skills in addition to core content. Our work is local, important, and impactful. We are proud to be your new neighbors in the Art Produce building and we look forward to growing joyful learning together. We hope you will join our mailing list so we can keep you up to date on news and events like our upcoming Family Art Class on October 11th. Sincerely, Caren Holtzman Executive Director The Teaching and Learning Collaborative, Inc. |
