WOMEN FORGING NEW SPACES: Collaboration and Practice in the Digital Age Featuring panelists: Cara Hagan (Movies by Movers, Appalachian State University) & Francesca Penzani (DV8, California Institute of the Arts) for a moderated discussion addressing collaboration in dance outside of the studio and questions of archive and artistry/what it means to record movement for screen. Panel is held in the Art Produce Gallery and will open to audience questions following moderated discussion. Panel is followed by a short screening of recent films from the artists. Wine will be served. |

THE BODY IN MOVEMENT & ARCHIVE: MOVEMENT + FILM PRACTICE IN SAN DIEGO Join us for a panel discussion with scholars and professionals based in San Diego whose multi-disciplinary works call forth questions of the body as an archive and the complexity of recording performance and movement for film. What is it to address the body in a frame — it’s topography, horizons, ancestry, memories, projections and traces of past events? Panel will be moderated by festival curator, Chelsea Zeffiro, and open to questions from audience participants. |

40N˚ FESTIVAL FINALE + EXHIBITION
40 NORTH concludes with a program of short films which revisit the spectrum of themes addressed throughout the 2018 festival. Join us under the stars in the open-air Art Produce Garden for local food, beer, and wine paired with a photo exhibition by 40N˚ featured artists, Angel Acuña and Emily Jane Sutherland. Enjoy the sunset in the Art Produce Garden from 6:00pm with the final screening of Official Selections at 7:30pm. This event is family friendly and makes for a special evening of dance in a magical outdoor environment — always a community favorite!
