Brian D. Black May 4th to June 13th 2020 Gallery Artist in Residence
About the project: Brian Black has developed an installation in the main gallery space that focuses on the interplay of sound and visual stimulus. Viewers are encouraged to contribute sounds that will stimulate memories and guide the growth of the work. The installation will transform on a weekly basis as new sounds and visual components are added to the space.
Closing Performance and Gallery Hours
Gallery Hours: Friday, June 12th - 1:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday, June 13th - 11:00am to 7:00pm To promote social distancing, viewing hours are extended and limits placed on the number of people in the gallery space at one time. Face coverings are required to enter.
Performance: "Plaid Sleeves" - Friday, June 12th at 7:00pm Viewable from the sidewalk.

About the artist: Brian D. Black originally comes from the Chicago-land area and moved to California in 2000. He received his Masters of Art degree in Sculpture from Northern Illinois University in 2000 and has exhibited work nationally and internationally. He currently works as an art instructor at Will Crawford High School in San Diego, CA and serves as the chair for the San Diego Unified School District VAPA Advisory Council. Brian’s artwork focuses on sculpture, drawing and new genre.
