Suminagashi with Sage Serrano

Suminagashi is the Japanese art of marbling paper, the name translates to “floating ink.” This method of marbling was developed in the early 12th century in Japan. By using two brushes, one with ink and one with dispersant, you take turns dipping each brush onto the surface of the water to begin creating your unique marbling design. Once your design has been created you will lay down a piece of paper to create a contact print. All ages are welcome!

Working with Paint with Avia Ramm

In this class, folks of any skill level will be encouraged to work with paint in familiar and unfamiliar ways. This class is an excuse to play with color and ideas, and a safe space to make mistakes and get messy. Participants will be given the opportunity to paint on a variety of colors, textures, surfaces and objects while being provided feedback on how to best execute their ideas.

Art is about creating, but also about community. Humans are creations, as well as art! A creation creating a creation to give to another creation, how sweet! Folks will be encouraged to give their pieces as a gift to someone, a hand made tangible form of love.
